Tamiya TRF 417FF FWD Design

Finished the design for the TRF 417FF FWD project.  It is a 1:10 FWD Front motor TC test chassis built on the Tamiya TRF 417 . Main feature is that the motor is moved back for better weight distribution and using a complete 417  steering system.  The only custom made parts are the main chassis and top deck that are sent for cut out in carbon fibre. All the other parts are from the Tamiya TRF 417 V5 and XV01TC Pro.

TA-06 XX Test and Race technical report

I continue the testing programme for the TA-06 XX touring car. Still no new parts have been fitted to the  chassis but I work on improwing the set up and trying different LIPO batteries to get more power from the short LIPOs used in this car.

This I have learned during the last 2 weeks:

– During pre-race testing on medium grip laptimes were 0,5-0,6 seconds off pace. But at the race when the track was a lot faster (1 second faster laptimes) because of very good track surface grip, I was only 0,3-0,4 seconds off the pace.

– My guess the reason for this is that the cars problem of generating enough grip (chassis is too stiff) becomes less important on high grip tracks. Also the increased power from the Much More Flat discharge short LIPO battery might have improved the laptimes. This battery was tested for the first time at the race.

Next step is a new upper deck that will give a softer chassis.
